The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia's largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

How You Will Make An Impact
As a
Duty Social Worker
, you'll be at the frontline of compassionate, accessible care within the Access Health social work team. This role places you at the
heart of our service
as the first point of contact for people experiencing marginalisation, substance use, street-based sex work and/or homelessness.

You'll play a
pivotal role
in triage, assessment and care coordination for a highly vulnerable community, helping people navigate complex systems and access the support they need. You will also provide a
safe and nurturing environment
, grounded in
harm reduction and trauma-informed practice
, and guided by the
social model of health
.

Working closely within a dedicated
multidisciplinary team
, you'll contribute to responsive, person-centred primary health care that genuinely improves outcomes and creates
meaningful change
.

Role detail
Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator and Program Manager, this is a permanent part-time role offering 15.2 hours, located in St Kilda, VIC. The required working days for this role are Monday and Thursday.

What You Will Bring

* A Bachelor's degree in social work, social services or similar.
* Relevant experience in a social service environment preferably the health, AOD, homelessness and/or mental health sector.
* A current VIC Drivers Licence
* Employee VIC Working with Children's Check

Conditions
Compensation is in accordance with Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 5.
