About The Department Of Employment And Workplace Relations
We are committed to empowering futures, ensuring rights and enriching lives. We support people to have safe, secure and well-paid work with the skills for a sustainable future as we ourselves strive to be a model employer.
We provide the framework for fair and productive relationships between employers and employees. We also oversee skills development and training initiatives to support those entering the workforce or re‐training to take advantage of emerging employment opportunities.
With us, your work directly contributes to shaping the employment landscape. Whether you are engaging in policy development, program implementation, or direct support services, your efforts will have a tangible impact on job seekers, employees and the economy by giving them a framework to build a future anchored and realised through employment.
It is our ambition to do things differently, to create the 'department of great jobs'– where our people reflect our purpose.
The Role
Are you a self‐starter with strong stakeholder and administrative skills, a history of high performance, and enjoy helping others to stay organised and achieve results? Do you have excellent communication skills, thrive on building relationships with a diverse group of people, and helping drive solutions that make a difference to people and your community? Then this may be the role you've been looking for.
This role reports to the South West WA Regional Workforce Transition Officer. Working together as a small team, you will directly support your region's workforce transition to a net zero economy. The Regional Workforce Transition Officer connects and collaborates with community, industry and government stakeholders to identify and act on local labour market needs and opportunities.
As the Program Officer, you will provide the Regional Workforce Transition Officer with administrative support to help them manage their time and stay organised while they are on the road. At other times you will be engaging directly with stakeholders. The Program Officer role will cater to your stakeholder and administrative strengths, while offering development opportunities in program design and implementation.
This is not a standard desk job, and each day will be different. The successful candidate will have a high degree of personal drive, initiative and integrity, as well as a passion for collaborating on and delivering community‐led outcomes.
You may live in a different part of South West WA to the Regional Workforce Transition Officer, so you will enjoy working independently and operating as a virtual team to ensure plans and timeframes are met. You will be required to hold a current Australian driver's licence and travel regularly throughout South West WA (and surrounds) as a representative of the Australian Government at stakeholder meetings, forums and events. The position is ongoing with full‐time and part‐time applicants being considered and requires being based in the South West WA Employment Region as you are expected to be available for face‐to‐face meetings and community engagements with stakeholders. Not all meetings will be in office hours so the role is also likely to require some out of hours work within the region and working from home.
