The Role
You'll transport scrap metal between customer sites and our yards, ensuring safe, efficient deliveries while providing great customer service. This is a hands‐on role offering variety, independence on the road, and the chance to be part of a supportive, close‐knit team.
Key Responsibilities
* Safely operate heavy vehicles to transport materials in line with company and legislative requirements
* Plan and manage daily runs to ensure efficient and timely deliveries
* Load and unload materials safely and efficiently
* Complete all required documentation accurately and on time
* Maintain strong relationships with customers and provide excellent service on‐site
* Identify, grade and (where required) price ferrous and non‐ferrous materials
* Work closely with the Transport and Trading teams to meet operational targets
* Monitor and manage bins at customer sites, ensuring efficient turnover
* Report issues, hazards, and improvement opportunities promptly
* Follow all safety, environmental and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements
About You
* Valid HR licence (essential)
* Strong understanding of road transport and Chain of Responsibility legislation
* Good communication skills and a customer‐focused approach
* Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively
* Basic computer skills (for systems and reporting)
* Crane and forklift experience preferable
