Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical/dental practitioners for the above position(s) in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District. The position will be primarily located at Nepean Hospital within the Department of Anaesthesia & Pain Management.
Responsibilities
Successful applicants will be committed, caring physicians with excellent communication and team–working skills, capable of contributing to an interdisciplinary team to provide innovative high‑quality care. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered.
Successful applicants may be offered a conjoint university appointment within the Faculty of Medicine at the relevant University. The level of academic appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications, experience and scholarship and will be held only during the tenure of the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District appointment. No remuneration is attached to the University appointment. The appointee will be responsible to the University for academic matters and to the district for clinical matters.
Appointees may be eligible for credentialing and privileging across all other facilities in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.

Selection Criteria
* MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants must have Fellowship of the Faculty of Pain Medicine, Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists or recognition as a specialist by the Medical Board of Australia. Applicants expecting to be awarded their Fellowship within 3 months may be considered.
* Demonstrated ability to provide specialist and high‑level patient‑centred clinical assessment, management and education to patients with complex chronic pain conditions, carers and families whilst working collaboratively with members of other disciplines to ensure the most appropriate patient care.
* High level interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
* Current competence and experience in managing patients in multidisciplinary cognitive behavioural based pain management programmes, both as a group and/or individually, including medication tapering.
* Demonstrated experience of involvement in and contribution to service development, quality improvement activities, research and professional education.
* Demonstrates the skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner including modelling of a high standard of professional behaviour to junior medical staff.
* Exceptional clinical knowledge in the subspecialty of Pain Medicine demonstrated by relevant qualifications and/or appropriate post‑Fellowship clinical experience, including interventional pain therapies.
* Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to support basic, applied, or clinical research as required within the Department would be looked on favourably.

Conditions of appointment are in accordance with the Health Services Act 1997 and the Staff Specialists (State) Award.
