About the Role
Join a team that brings imaginative, fun and safe toys to life. As a Junior Product Design Engineer, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to support the development of mechanical and electro‑mechanical toy products from concept through to production. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early‑career engineer who is eager to learn, build hands‑on skills, and grow in a fast‑paced, creative environment.
What You'll Do
* Assist in developing mechanical and electro‑mechanical toy products from early concept through to production.
* Support senior engineers and Product Design teams in mechanism development, part design, material selection and prototype builds.
* Create and update technical documentation including specifications, BOMs and test plans.
* Prepare CAD models and assemblies, and support design reviews.
* Participate in prototype testing, data gathering and reporting findings.
* Work with Design, Product Management and Manufacturing teams to understand intent and constraints.
* Support communication with manufacturers to resolve technical issues and understand high‑volume production processes.
* CAD‑based simulation/modelling and embedded electronic design.
* Contribute ideas in brainstorming, innovation sessions and product improvement discussions.
About You
Qualifications & Skills
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent.
* Graduate - 2 years industry experience (internships, placements, hobby engineering or capstone projects all valued).
* Exposure to high‑volume consumer products, injection‑moulded plastics or electronics is a plus, but not required.
* Experience in or exposure to the Toy industry or children's consumer goods beneficial
* Proficiency with a 3D CAD system (Fusion 360 preferred), with coursework or project examples demonstrating CAD competency.
* Foundational understanding of mechanism design and plastic part design (university, internship or hobby experience accepted).
* Electronics/embedded familiarity - able to interpret basic schematics, assist in building simple prototype circuits and learn to support firmware‑integrated features.
* Enthusiasm for hands‑on prototyping, testing and iterative development.
* Clear communication skills and willingness to collaborate across disciplines.
* Curiosity, eagerness to learn and comfort asking questions to build understanding.
