The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, writing and submitting compelling grant proposals for Australia Zoo and Wildlife Warriors. This role is an integral part of the Australia Zoo Group in securing funding to support and expand our global conservation projects.
Duties Include but are not limited to:
* Research and identify prospective grant opportunities aligned with Australia Zoo missions and goals.
* Write, edit, and submit high-quality grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting documents.
* Collaborate with relevant Australia Zoo staff to gather data, budgets, and supporting materials.
* Manage grant calendars and ensure timely submission of all applications and reports.
* Track and maintain records of submissions, deadlines, and funding outcomes.
* Prepare interim and final grant reports in compliance with funder requirements.
* Maintain relationships with funders and respond to follow-up inquiries.
* Travel as requested to attend meetings with council and government officials.
* Advocate on funding topics, including government funding opportunities and collaborations.
* Research, monitor, analyse and evaluate legislation and regulation topics that may affect the Australia Zoo Group.
* Assist with writing position and briefing papers in preparation for the Senior Management team when engaging with Ministers of Federal and State governments, as well as staff who may need preparation on occasion.
* Research, develop, implement and maximise a strategy to assist with identifying new funding opportunities.
Essential Criteria:
* Full availability, including weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
* The ability to travel for work when required.
* A knowledge and understanding of grant processes and current legislation.
* Self-motivation, attention-to-detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
* Great written and verbal communication skills.
* Presentation skills and public speaking skills.
