Job Title: Lead Mechanical Engineer
About the Role
This is a permanent position within a leading heavy engineering design firm based in Newcastle. As a mid- to senior-level Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for interfacing with customers and leading projects involving engineers and design draftspeople.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and manufacture special vehicles, including FCVs, ambulances, urban fire trucks, country fire trucks, management trucks, emergency vehicles, etc.
* Be involved in all processes, including tendering, design, manufacturing, and commissioning.
* Provide ongoing production support and quality checks of in-house fabrication across multiple projects.
* Prepare general assessments (GAs) and bills of manufacture (BOMs), manufacturing drawings for procurement and fabrication teams.
* Contribute to prototyping phase, jig making, and process streamlining.
Requirements
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer who has over 10 years project and design engineering experience. You must have Australian citizenship and strong communication skills.
