Position Information
Gilgandra High School is an inclusive, culturally diverse rural school located on Wiradjuri, Kamilaroi and Wailwan Land, with a student body of 189, of whom 41 % identify as Aboriginal. The school has a strong tradition of academic, agricultural and sporting success, with skilled teachers that have a broad range of experiences, who value academic excellence and readily cater for all student learning styles and abilities. It has three Multi‑Categorical classes and a Tutorial Centre catering for students with additional needs. The systems for student behaviour and learning are strongly supported through the Wellbeing Framework and the Wellbeing Hub (Bundyi Baayay), underpinning the strong student wellbeing ethos in the school. Students consistently achieve their desired post‑school options, including university placement, apprenticeships and traineeships. The school has well‑maintained facilities, including three trade‑training centres, relationships with tertiary institutions and Wiradjuri language; providing an inclusive curriculum, ensuring student interests, academic levels and goals are supported. Our school maintains strong relationships with the feeder primary schools in the area to support effective transition programmes. We welcome community involvement in our school and have an active parent body whose support enriches students' learning experiences and school culture. We value feedback from all sectors of the school community, offering opportunities for students, staff and the community to engage in consultation and feedback throughout the year.
