About your new role
As a Senior Structural Designer/Drafter, you will be based in the Engineering, Design and Specifications branch in the Engineering, Design and Standards to Structural Team business unit. The business unit is responsible for delivering engineering solutions, engineering certifications, infrastructure designs and infrastructure standards, developing project and procurement technical specifications, and evaluations for capital works projects.
Responsibilities Include
* Deliver a range of structural design projects, from minor works to complex, multidisciplinary projects.
* Oversee the design aspects of projects, ensuring quality outcomes while supporting and mentoring the team.
* Prepare and process planning, survey, and design data, including technical drawings and reports.
* Provide practical, cost‑effective design solutions that align with stakeholder expectations.
* Offer specialist technical advice, clearly and concisely communicating complex design concepts.
* Review and refine procedures, policies, and standards to improve planning and design efficiency.
* Ensure all work complies with quality, workplace health and safety (WHS), and environmental standards.
We're looking for people who have
* An associate degree in civil engineering (or a relevant qualification) and/or significant experience in computer-aided design and drafting.
* A strong background in designing municipal infrastructure in brownfield environments.
* Proficiency in technical design software, including Revit and AutoCAD.
* Experience with 12D would be highly preferred as well.
* A solid understanding of structural, civil, and technical standards and guidelines.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms.
* A collaborative mindset, with experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to make informed recommendations.
