We are seeking an experienced motivated Building Designer who is passionate about sustainable living and building design to assist the director and project manage our residential projects.
Specifically, your role is to:
The successful candidate will work one-on-one with the Director developing designs and will follow the projects through with the design team, working in all aspects of the design and construction process.
The role involves project management, consultant engagement/coordination, producing Development Application (DA) drawings & Archicad drawings. This role is suitable for individuals who are reliable, enjoy flexibility and autonomy, who show initiative, and value good old fashioned customer service.
Responsibilities
Project Management
* Manage project timelines and budgets
* Liaise with stakeholders (clients, builders, consultants and council staff)
* Delegate tasks to team members and external stakeholders
* Visit construction sites to ensure sustainability features are correct as per documentation and liaise with builders
* Championing business improvement
* Undertaking personal and professional development to enhance knowledge and skills
Design and Drafting
* Design and draw residential homes using ArchiCAD software using 4D libraries
* Produce floor plans, elevations & 3D renderings in line with client expectations & local authority compliance, R-codes & NCC regulations
* Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
* Submit & liaise with councils for planning approval
* Check and mark up drawings from concept to construction documentation
* Liaise with energy assessors to ensure that our clients get the best energy efficiency outcomes without unnecessary increased costs
* Work with clients through design development ensuring that changes do not exceed the clients set budget
About you
We are looking for someone to become a long-term member of our small team as we move to a new and exciting phase of the company's development.
A minimum of five years' experience is preferred, design skills, knowledge of software, attitude, commitment to the environment and social impact are also important.
The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, a high emotional intelligence and a strong focus on sustainability. A can-do attitude together with the ability to develop a strong working relationship with the managing director is essential. You will also have:
* A passion for sustainable housing, especially passive solar design and universal design
* Experience using ArchiCAD (Minimum version 26) and 4D Libraries/CI Tools
* Experience with Microsoft SharePoint (preferred)
* A thorough and methodical approach to workflow as well as attention to detail.
* Five years (5) architectural drafting experience
* Good residential construction knowledge
* Good understanding of the R-Codes and NCC Vol 2 (Building Code of Australia)
* Commitment to customer service, with sound communication skills and an ability to develop and maintain rapport with stakeholders
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Good time management with the ability to work to deadlines
* Reliable and good work ethic
* Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, effectively manage deadlines, communicate clearly and promptly, incorporate feedback constructively, maintain a high level of accuracy, with a positive attitude.
This is a permanent full-time position with remuneration negotiable and will be commensurate with skills and experience. While a full-time position is offered, hours may be flexible dependent on the applicant.
