Responsibilities

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in Current South Wales for the Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management, Gosford and Wyong Hospitals, Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD).

The Central Coast Integrated Pain Service (CCIPS) is a non-interventional service based at Gosford Hospital. You will be one of two medical staff working within a multidisciplinary pain team including a psychologist, occupational therapy, physiotherapist and nurse. The service is a purely out-facing service, though in time there is aspiration to grow to include in-facing chronic pain management. CCIPS caters for chronic pain patients from the whole LHD and covers a geographic area from Hawkesbury to Lake Macquarie.

CCIPS sits under the Department of Anaesthetics and is an accredited training site for ANZCA. We encourage anaesthesia trainees’ interest in chronic pain and can arrange for trainees to spend time with CCIPS if desired. There is a scholarship programme through CCIPS for local GPs to improve their ability to manage these patients in the community. A campus of the University of Newcastle within the hospital grounds offers opportunities for undergraduate teaching.
