- AP140C – AP15ZC ($42,562 – $48,862 per annum + superannuation) based on schooling level completion
- Adult (over 21 upon commencement) AP75ZC $63,169 per annum + superannuation

About The Role
Under close supervision, this position undertakes a competency-based apprenticeship to develop a range of skills in fitting and turning through formal and on-the-job learning activities. This position will assist in maintaining Council’s mechanical, water/wastewater assets to a high standard including repair, replacement, installation, design and manufacturing of plant and equipment.
The Mechanical and Electrical team is responsible for delivering mechanical, welding, electrical and technical services for Townsville Water and Waste, other council departments and external customers. While receiving ongoing support from qualified and highly experienced team members you will undertake a competency-based apprenticeship, completing a Certificate III Engineering (Mechanical Trade) to develop a range of skills in fitting and turning through formal and on-the-job learning activities

About You
In an ideal applicant, we are looking for:
- Willingness to be part of, and promote, a positive safety culture whilst adhering to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Minimum completed of Year 10 with passes in English and Mathematics.
- Minimum of Queensland C class provisional drivers’ licence (or ability to obtain).
- Sound written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Willingness to undertake the requirements to successfully complete the associated qualification.
