Job Description
* Shape how one of Australia's largest retail networks plans and invests in its workforce, influencing performance at true national scale
* Lead a high‐impact transformation agenda, driving automation, productivity across Dan Murphy's and BWS
* Partner directly with senior leaders across Retail, Finance and Strategy to deliver measurable commercial outcomes and long‐term value
As Head of Retail Workforce Planning and Labour Optimisation, you'll shape how our retail networks plan and deploy their workforce. Partnering across Retail Operations and Finance, you'll lead a best‐in‐class labour model across Dan Murphy's and BWS, aligning workforce investment to customer demand, performance and compliance.
In addition to enabling our current labour plan, a key focus of this role is leading the transformation of workforce planning across the business. You'll drive automation, leverage industry best practices, embedding more sophisticated, data‐led decision making and delivering sustainable improvements in productivity and cost at scale.
This is a permanent role, based in our Sydney or Melbourne office in a hybrid working environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Strategic Labour Model Ownership: Manage and continuously refine the comprehensive end‐to‐end retail labour model, including forecasting, labour standards, productivity guardrails, and workforce planning frameworks.
* Workforce Investment Alignment: Act as a strategic partner to Retail, Finance and Strategy to ensure workforce investment aligns with business performance goals, budgetary constraints, and long‐term strategic priorities, viewing labour as a critical business lever.
* Productivity & Optimisation Leadership: Drive national initiatives focused on in‐store roostering, labour planning and efficiency improvement.
* Team Leadership & Data‐Driven Culture: Build, mentor, and lead a high‐performing team, driving a more disciplined, data‐led approach to workforce decision‐making across the business.
Qualifications
* Significant experience in complex workforce planning, labour modelling, or productivity within a large, multi‐site environment.
* Proven ability to lead transformation programmes that deliver measurable productivity and cost improvements (ideal).
* A commercially‐mindful leadership approach that balances senior engagement, customer outcomes, operational performance, and financial results.
* Highly analytical capabilities, including strong forecasting skills and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
* Ability to build and lead high‐performing teams, effectively influence senior stakeholders, and thrive in complex, ambiguous environments.
