**About The Role**:
Curtin University is looking for a dedicated Research Fellow to join our esteemed research team at the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child. This role is essential to our Connected Child program, which focuses on the impact of generative AI and datafication on children and parents. This position provides a unique prospect to contribute to innovative research aimed at improving the lives of Australian families while addressing the critical challenges posed by emerging technologies.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Conduct research on how generative AI and datafication affect Australian children and families.
- Investigate the social and cultural implications of generative AI technologies.
- Analyse the role of generative AI in Australian society, particularly concerning parents, children, and families.
- Examine the operational dynamics of generative AI tools, making their cultural and social impacts visible.
- Provide practical recommendations for the effective use of generative AI and emerging AI technologies in educational and policy contexts.
- Explore the relationship between generative AI companies and the broader landscape of big tech, addressing issues such as privacy and bias.

**Essential Criteria**:
- A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline.
- Evidence of a record of research outputs/creative works in high quality refereed journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
- Evidence of quality and impact of research outputs/creative works including journal ranking, citation indices, patents awarded, reputation and standing of publishing house or other outlets, independent review from distinguished scholars or critics, or equivalent esteem measures as appropriate to the discipline.
- Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
- Editorial experience in managing a large edited collection or equivalent.
**Desirable, though not essential**:
- A strong research background in digital technology, child development, or related fields.
- An understanding of the implications of AI and datafication for families.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- A passion for exploring the intersection of technology and society.
