Aviation Meteorologist Development Support
The Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport (ALMT) Program is responsible for the Bureau's business relationships with service delivery partners, government stakeholders, and both domestic and international customers operating in the Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport sectors.
In particular, the Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport Program is the sole provider of aviation meteorological services to the aviation industry within the Australian Flight Information Regions. Australian Civil Aviation Safety Regulations (CASRs) require pilots to plan flights using Bureau products. The Bureau's aviation services also contribute to meeting Australia's obligations under the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
The Service Delivery Optimisation team are responsible for providing a world-class operating environment for the service delivery teams within Aviation Operations. This includes deepening our people's understanding of the aviation industry, fostering continuous learning, capability building, ensuring quality management systems and processes are in place and contributing to the operationalisation of product, process, and technology change.
The Aviation Meteorologist Development Support role supports the ongoing development and delivery of career and professional learning pathways for Aviation Meteorologists across all levels, from graduates to senior forecasters. The role helps ensure that development activities align with national and international standards and contributes to fostering a culture of continuous improvement through coaching, mentoring, and quality assurance support. It works collaboratively across the Bureau and with external stakeholders to assist with development opportunities, identifying future capability needs, and provides support to operational leaders in staff development planning.
