Offer description

Use your financial expertise to influence decisions that matter.

The Financial Services Branch provides policy, reporting, and advisory support across all areas of finance to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP).

About the role

As an APS6 Management Accountant, you will play a trusted advisory role, supporting senior executives and business areas with high-quality financial insights that inform planning, performance and resource decisions. You will work across budgets, forecasts and financial analysis, helping translate numbers into clear, practical advice in a complex and fast-moving environment.

This role suits someone who is confident working independently, but who also values collaboration and building strong working relationships. You will:

* play a role in strengthening financial capability across the CDPP, improving processes and supporting compliance with government financial frameworks;
* contribute to business planning, monitor financial performance, and help identify financial risks and opportunities — translating complex information into advice that senior executives can act on; and
* manage competing priorities, exercise professional judgement and collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders to support strong financial stewardship and accountability.

What you will bring:

* ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders;
* well-developed analytical skills and professional judgement;
* proactive, organised approach to managing deadlines and priorities; and
* •commitment to integrity, accountability and public sector values.

* Provide support to the Senior Management Accountant and the Financial Reporting team in the delivery of monthly reporting processes. This includes journal processing, preparation of reconciliations, and reporting to internal stakeholders;
* Contribution to the internal budget submission process. This includes coordinating responses from budget owners, assisting the Senior Management Accountant with submission consolidation and drafting papers to the Executive Committee for budget endorsement;
* Contribute to the publication of External Budget documents. This includes drafting Portfolio Budget Statements and (where required) Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements, entering budget adjustments in the Department of Finance’s Central Budget Management System (CBMS), and liaising with relevant internal stakeholders for performance information;
* Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the CDPP, building trusted relationships and providing tailored financial advice that supports capability uplift and financial literacy.
* You will influence outcomes by clearly explaining financial implications, constraints and options, often in complex or time-pressured environments;
* Contribute to CDPP and partner agency led New Policy Proposals (NPPs). This includes applying the CDPP costing model, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to obtain defensible inputs for the model, drafting costing justifications for the Department of Finance, and tracking known and anticipated NPPs (including terminating measures); and
* Provide backup and/or support to other functions in the FMG team as required including contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing financial processes, systems and controls, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy and compliance.
Eligibility
* The ability to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Baseline clearance is required.
* Australian Citizenship.
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting/finance or commerce.
Notes

You’ll be part of a supportive, professional team where your expertise is highly regarded, and your advice has real impact. This role offers the opportunity to broaden your experience, build strong partnerships across the CDPP and contribute to meaningful outcomes for the whole-of-government and the community.

We support flexible work, professional development and career progression within a values-driven APS environment.
