About the Team:
Digital and Campus Services is a customer‐centric, innovation‐driven portfolio responsible for modernising VU's technology platforms and infrastructure, delivering high‐quality digital solutions, and driving process improvements that enhance outcomes for students, staff and the wider community; the department collaborates closely with business partners, project teams, security specialists, and technology vendors across areas including infrastructure, data, application development, cybersecurity, campus services, and AI delivery to ensure VU remains a modern, thriving place to study and work
About the Role:As a Solution Architect, you will lead the design and delivery of solutions architecture across a range of strategic initiatives. Reporting to the Enterprise Architect, you'll provide expert guidance and thought leadership to project teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure innovative, secure, and scalable solutions aligned with the University's vision.
You will drive excellence in solution design and architecture governance, contribute to enterprise architecture strategy, and lead a community of practice for Solution Architects. This is your chance to make a significant impact within a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
Position Key Duties
Lead and guide the development of architectural solutions that support VU's digital strategy.
Collaborate with project managers, business partners, and technical teams across infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity.
Ensure consistency and quality of solution delivery through architecture reviews and standards.
Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment, mentoring other Solution Architects.
Engage with external vendors and industry peers to bring best practices and emerging trends to VU.
Salary: HEP 9 - $132,942 - $138,314 – Plus 17% SuperEmployment Type:Fixed Term – 2 YearsHours: 36.75/1 FTELocation:Footscray Park Campus – 3 days on site.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
1. Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience in IT or a related field.
2. Proven experience in business process re-engineering and system development lifecycle (SDLC).
3. Strong background in solution architecture with the ability to navigate complex IT environments.
4. Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills.
5. A forward-looking mindset, with the ability to apply emerging technologies to inclusive, strategic outcomes.
