This role sits within a Federal Government department responsible for delivering strategic programs with national and global impact.
Your new roleAs the Financial Modeller, you will be engaged to design, build and embed robust financial models that underpin budgeting, forecasting and funding management for a high-profile, multi-year government program.
Operating at an APS6-EL1 equivalent level, this role is outcome-focused and project-driven, supporting the establishment of fit-for-purpose financial modelling frameworks that enable informed decision-making, forward planning and strong financial governance.
You will work closely with program, policy and finance stakeholders to translate operational and funding inputs into sustainable, transparent and auditable financial forecasts. The Financial Modeller will also uplift existing tools and templates, ensuring models are well documented and capable of being transitioned into business-as-usual operations.
This role is based in Canberra, with flexibility considered for the right candidate.
What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
* NV1 security clearance
* Proven experience in financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting within government or complex organisational environments
* Advanced Excel modelling capability, including multi-year forecasting, scenario and sensitivity analysis
* Experience working with program-based or grant-funded budgets
* Strong understanding of Australian Government financial frameworks, including appropriations and grants
* Ability to convert complex financial data into clear, decision-ready insights
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills and confidence working with non-finance teams
Experience supporting grant-driven programs, and exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, will be highly regarded.
