About the Role
As a Machine Operator, you will play a key role in our production processes, with opportunities to learn and perform a variety of tasks. You will be trained to operate our specialised equipment and contribute to packing and production. From setting up and running machinery to quality checking and maintaining equipment, your contribution will directly impact our commitment to excellence.
This role requires availability for a 24-hour rotating roster, including day, afternoon, and night shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operating various machinery types, including but not limited to:
* HL, Looper, and Vepa machines for specialised netting production.
* Bobbin Winder machines
* Rubber Cover machines
* Auto Cutting machines
* Overlocking machines
* Cryovac machines for Vacuum Packing
* Operating knitting machines to perform textile processing and manufacturing tasks such as winding, twisting, and knitting, including starting and stopping machines, loading product, monitoring operations, and making adjustments as needed.
* Threading yarn and fabric cones through guides, needles, and rollers for weaving, knitting, or other processing.
* Performing technical tasks such as changing blades and managing hydraulic systems.
* Labelling and packing products manually and using automated systems, including loading rolls onto conveyors and securing boxes for shipment.
* Using tools like tape guns and trolleys to handle and move packed goods efficiently.
* Checking knitted fabric for defects and ensuring quality standards.
* Following SOPs to produce high-quality products meeting ISO 9001 and HACCP standards.
* Accurately recording production data and maintaining traceability.
* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
* Upholding workplace health and safety standards, including manual handling practices.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a team player with a proactive mindset, strong attention to detail, and a positive attitude. Crucially, candidates must be available to work a 24-hour rotating roster, encompassing day, afternoon, and night shifts. Ideal candidates will have:
* At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing role involving physical tasks, such as machine operation, packing, or material handling.
* Proven experience in maintaining accurate production documentation and upholding quality assurance standards while operating machinery.
* Physical fitness to handle materials, including yarn cones weighing up to 26 kg and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, squatting, and ladder climbing.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* Strong observation skills with attention to detail.
* Excellent hand-eye coordination.
* Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
* Familiarity with HACCP and ISO 9001 quality standards is desirable.
* Awareness of safe manual handling techniques and the ability to work in a factory environment where PPE is mandatory.
* A team-oriented, enthusiastic, and positive attitude with a willingness to be cross-trained in different areas.
* Familiarity with working on computers and using Smartsheet for data entry and tracking will be considered an advantage.
Physical Requirements:
This role involves standing, walking, bending, and lifting medium to heavy materials (up to 25kg) repetitively. Successful candidates will need to complete a medical assessment to ensure they can perform the required tasks safely.
