Primary objective
Provide high-level expert advice and strategic leadership to the Department of Children and Families across the Greater Darwin
Region service delivery areas of families, child protection, family support, and out of home care to ensure the provision of high
quality services to clients.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide strategic leadership and collaborative integration of services for the region to ensure appropriate service responses
are delivered providing a seamless experience for clients, staff, partners and the community across all agency functions in the
region.
1. Lead the development of business planning and manage the regional human, financial and physical resources in accordance
with relevant legislation, delegations and policies.
1. Provide high level expert strategic advice to the Chief Executive Officer and leadership team on all areas of accountability.
2. Represent the agency as its senior officer in the region at forums and provide proactive collaboration and timely information
about the agency and its functions.
1. Drive connection and lead DCF's presence in the community by implementing key agency strategies for ensuring service
delivery integration within the region to enable local community access, ensuring that place-based needs are considered and
delivered on within contractual agreements.
1. Lead the delivery of Regional Services programs, initiatives and infrastructure projects within the Big Rivers region.
2. Lead and develop staff to ensure a high standard of service and advice is maintained including maintaining networks and
collaborative partnerships across the Territory, state and federal governments and key stakeholder groups.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. High level strategic, conceptual, analytical and innovation skills including the ability to manage and interpret the political
environment from a human services perspective.
2. Demonstrated senior executive level experience driving and achieving strategic objectives for a human services frontline
organisation.
3. Extensive knowledge and experience in providing leadership, guidance and budget and people management to ensure teams
achieve high quality outcomes.
4. Sound understanding of strategic planning and evidence-based decision making in relation to the delivery of successful
outcomes within a complex service delivery environment.
5. High level communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to work under pressure and build technical and strategic
capability within the team and build and maintain collaborate partnerships across the organisation and community.
6. Exceptional collaborative and influential skills with a demonstrated ability to establish and sustain productive working
relationships and strategic alliances with key internal and external stakeholders and demonstrated sound professional
judgement and political acumen.
1. A strong level of cultural competency and demonstrated experience working successfully with Aboriginal people across
remote and regional locations.
1. Experience in emergency management responses.
