About the RoleThe Targeted Earlier Intervention (TEI) Program in NSW provides support for children, young people, families, and communities experiencing or at risk of vulnerability.
A key role within this initiative is the Safe and Strong Families Worker, who focuses on delivering culturally safe, trauma-informed, and therapeutic early intervention services, particularly to Aboriginal individuals and families impacted by domestic and family violence.
The aim is to improve family dynamics, strengthen community ties, and reduce harm.Key DutiesDeliver family support services that are trauma-informed and culturally responsiveProvide case management including assessment, planning, support, and referralFacilitate parenting programs, playgroups, and peer support/mentoring groupsSupport emotional and material wellbeing of families through coaching and educationCollaborate with local DFV networks and specialist services to ensure coordinated supportEngage with clients using strengths based and community development approachesRecord accurate case notes, assessments, and reporting data as requiredParticipate in local and program-level evaluations and reviews (e.g. Safe and Strong evaluation)Strong community connections and cultural awareness, particularly with Aboriginal and diverse communitiesExperience delivering trauma-informed and therapeutic support to families impacted by domestic and family violenceSkilled in facilitating parenting programs and play-based or peer support initiatives focused on early childhood and family wellbeingMandatory compliance requirements of the positionTertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, or related field experienceExcellent communication, time management and organizational skillsKnowledge and understanding of the issues that impact Aboriginal people and Aboriginal communitiesAustralian Drivers LicenceWorking With Children CheckProof of COVID vaccinationNational Criminal Record CheckGenerous not-for-profit salary packagingBecoming an integral part of an enthusiastic and diligent NFP OrganisationWe strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.Job context and additional informationWe provide services in Wellington, Dubbo, Western Sydney, Penrith, Nepean, and Blue Mountains, with outreach to other towns and communities through regional programs.
