About the Opportunity

The Primary and Community Health Team are seeking an Aboriginal person who is interested in joining the Brighter Beginnings Health and Development Checks team in SWSLHD as an Allied Health Assistant.

SWSLHD operates its services on the lands of the Dharawal, Darug and Gundungurra people and has a rich history of working alongside local Aboriginal communities and our district's Aboriginal Health Unit.

What You'll be Doing

To provide a high quality clinical service to clients and their families/carers under the supervision of an Allied Health Professional to optimise health outcomes for the clients of the service. The position will play a key role in ensuring the specific cultural needs of Aboriginal clients and their families are considered and addressed when delivering care.

The Allied Health Assistant is also responsible for undertaking designated departmental and administrative tasks necessary to support service delivery. The position is a part of the Brighter Beginnings multidisciplinary team. This team is responsible for implementing preschool health and development screening program in SWSLHD.

Where You'll Be Working

SWSLHD Primary & Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community-based services designed to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across South Western Sydney.

These services include prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute and post-acute treatment, health maintenance, and continuing care. The team supports diverse populations, offering specialised programs for children, young people, older adults, and at-risk communities.

With over 800 dedicated staff, including Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, the service ensures high-quality care close to where people live.

* Experience as an Allied Health Assistant or commitment to complete the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistant within 6 months of employment.
* Please describe your written and verbal communication skills and provide an example where you have worked independently and as part of a team.
* Can you share an example of how you've managed your workload to meet deadlines and used applications such as Microsoft Office?
* Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
