Responsibilities
The responsibilities of an MLC Learning Diversity EAL teacher include, but are not limited to:
* Providing support to students with diverse learning needs including:
o Explicit instruction in a small withdrawal class (language/numeracy /literacy based)
o Leading and directing Education Support Staff to assist with student support and intervention. Collaborating with subject teachers to integrate required adjustments or modify curriculum
o Developing Personal/Individual Learning Programs (P/ILP) for relevant students.
o Leading and facilitating Parent Support Group (PSG) meetings for relevant students to align with the requirements of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) process for students with disability.
o Providing resources and advice for teachers regarding teaching strategies and educational materials to promote student learning.
* Liaising with parents of students with additional learning needs and reporting to parents on a regular basis.
* Maintaining up to date student records and data entry.
* Contributing to the professional development of the Learning Diversity department and Junior School staff.
* Planning and delivering highly engaging lessons in collaboration with members of the teaching team.
* Developing a culture of high expectations for all students.
* Providing feedback to students and parents via the Continuous Reporting system.
* Using data to analyse the progress of students, inform teaching practice, and to assess the efficacy of teaching and learning strategies.
* Working with colleagues to embed more effective teaching strategies into the classes.
* Developing strong relationships with colleagues, students and parents.
* Contributing to departmental meetings, reviews and initiatives, as required.
* Attending various Information Evenings and Parent-Teacher-Student conferences, as required.
* Engaging in professional learning and professional networks in the school and the wider community.
* Supporting the wellbeing of students in their class, subject or wellbeing groups.
* Being responsible for understanding and applying the MLC Child Safe Program, including identifying and reporting risks, identifying child abuse indicators, and internal and external reporting obligations.
* Engaging in co-curricular activities, in particular House events.

* Demonstrated commitment to excellence in student learning and wellbeing
* Effective planning, organisational and time management skills
* Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based teaching practices
* Ability to use data to refine instructional approach and maximise student progress
* Acts professionally and maintains appropriate confidentiality
* Appropriate qualification and recent teaching experience in Learning Diversity and EAL (Primary)
* Experience with Literacy and Numeracy interventions, such as Multilit and Language Lift.
* Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration and subject specific qualifications
* Commitment to professional growth and reflective practice
* Alignment with MLC's values and policies
* Right to work in Australia
* Adherence to all College policies and demonstration of behaviours in accordance with the Child Safe Standards
* An understanding of the Victorian Child Safe Standards.
