As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Workshop-Based Boilermaker Supervisor to lead fabrication activities and support team development in our Kalgoorlie workshop. About the Role
The Boilermaker Supervisor (Workshop) is responsible for supervising and coordinating workshop fabrication work, managing personnel, scheduling tasks, and ensuring projects meet ABBA and client expectations. This hands-on role contributes to safe, high-quality, and efficient fabrication operations while developing and mentoring the team.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise, mentor, and support boilermakers and apprentices
* Facilitate pre-starts, toolbox talks, and daily coordination
* Monitor productivity, performance, and team capability development
* Plan and allocate fabrication tasks to meet production schedules
* Oversee welding, assembly, and fabrication activities
* Ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to specification
* Maintain high fabrication standards and QA processes
* Identify and resolve defects or non-conformances
* Provide technical guidance to team members
* Provide progress updates to management
* Liaise with internal departments and site teams to support workflow
* Support client engagement where required
* Promote a strong safety culture within the workshop
* Ensure adherence to WHS requirements, SOPs, and safe work practices
* Coach team members in safe behaviours and compliance expectations
* Manage tools, equipment, and material availability
* Coordinate stock control and procurement requests
* Ensure accurate completion of timesheets, job records, and reporting
About you
* Trade Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication (Boilermaker)
* Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience in fabrication or heavy industry
* Strong workshop fabrication and welding background
* Current C-Class Driver's Licence
* Confined Space and Working at Heights certifications
* Intermediate Microsoft Office capability
* Highly regarded: Mining or heavy industrial fabrication experience
* You will also demonstrate: Leadership capability and team development focus
* Strong safety leadership behaviours
* Organisational and planning skills
* Clear communication and problem-solving ability
