About the role:

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you'll be a key driver of financial excellence, governance, and innovation across our organisation. Leading a talented finance team, you'll oversee everything from financial strategy, reporting, compliance, and asset management, through to enabling field operations and supporting our 10-year conservation strategy.

The newly created position of Senior Financial Controller is a critical role in pursuing AWC's bold new 10-year Strategic Plan, committing to an ambitious, science-led strategy to safeguard more species, protect more land and continue delivering measurable conservation impact.

Success in this role will meaningfully contribute toward transformative conservation outcomes and secure Australia's biodiversity – the next ten years will decide the future of Australia's wildlife.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

* Providing strategic advisor to the CFO and executive team.
* Leading finance operations, reporting, and compliance functions.
* Driving process improvement and technology innovation in finance.
* Managing budgets, forecasts, investments, and cash flow.
* Overseeing asset management and capital planning.
* Mentoring and developing a high-performing finance team.
* Experienced finance leader with strong team management, mentoring, and senior reporting skills.
* Strategic, detail-oriented, and highly analytical with strong problem-solving abilities.
* Skilled in project management, process improvement, and technology-driven finance solutions.
* Excellent communicator, able to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively while working autonomously.
* Committed to high ethical standards, governance, compliance, and the conservation of Australian wildlife.

Qualifications and Certificates:

* Chartered Accountant (CA) or CPA professional designation.
* Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or business.
* Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check(NCCHC) /Police Check certificate(refresher checks are undertaken every three years and are paid for by AWC).

PLEASE NOTE:The role is primarily based at our Subiaco office, with hybrid work arrangements available under AWC's flexible work policy.
