We are seeking a skilled researcher to join our team as a Research Associate. The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary research project, utilizing modern and ancient DNA techniques.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in paleoecology, genetics, or a related field, and experience in working with ancient DNA.
* The position will involve collaboration with the Environmental Genomics Initiative and the State Herbarium of South Australia.
* Key responsibilities include developing a DNA reference database for native flora on Kangaroo Island and analyzing ancient DNA from sediments to understand vegetation change over the last 10,000 years.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
* Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the analysis of ancient DNA from Quaternary (or older) sediments.
* Demonstrated expertise in bioinformatic processing of DNA data.
* An excellent publication record in international, peer-reviewed journals.
* Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following scientific disciplines: botany, fire ecology, landscape ecology, palaeoecology, climate change, paleoclimates, environmental change or similar.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
