As part of our clients expansion plans and the establishment of a new office in Melbourne, Australia, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Director of Construction Management with a background in Renewable Energy to lead our construction activities and support the successful launch of our new office.
Job Summary: As the Director of Construction Management - Renewable Energy, you will be responsible for overseeing the construction and execution of our renewable energy projects in Melbourne and across Australia. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality projects while adhering to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. Your expertise in construction management, coupled with a deep understanding of renewable energy, will contribute to the successful establishment and growth of our new office in Melbourne and across Australia.
**About you**
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead and manage the construction activities of renewable energy projects, from project inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget, quality, and safety standards.
- Develop and implement construction management plans, including procurement strategies, project schedules, resource allocation, and risk mitigation measures.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project development, engineering, and operations, to ensure seamless coordination and integration of construction activities.
- Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of contractors, suppliers, and consultants, ensuring the highest level of quality and performance throughout the construction process.
- Monitor and track project progress, milestones, and budgets, and provide regular updates to senior management, identifying potential risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, permits, and licenses throughout the construction phase of renewable energy projects.
- Coordinate with local authorities, utility companies, and other stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals, grid connection agreements, and permits for construction activities.
- Oversee the commissioning and handover process, ensuring seamless transition from construction to operations, and providing necessary support to operations teams.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in construction management processes, tools, and techniques to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory changes in the renewable energy and construction sectors, recommending and implementing improvements to construction practices.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, MSc, etc.) is a plus.
- Proven track record of at least 10 years in construction management roles within the renewable energy industry, with a focus on project execution and delivery.
- In-depth knowledge of renewable energy technologies, including solar and wind, and their construction requirements.
- Experience in managing construction activities of renewable energy projects, preferably in Australia.
- Flexibility to travel as required to project sites and attend meetings.
