Position: Employment Relations Advisor
Salary Range: $86,917 to $99,742 per annum pending experience
Tenure:Full Time, Permanent
Commencing Date: 1 September 2025
Closing Date: Friday, 8 August2025 unless filled prior

About the role

Townsville Catholic Education (TCE) is currently seeking an experiencedEmployment Relations Advisor for aFull Time, Permanent position commencing on 1st September 2025.

Reporting to the Senior People & Safety Business Partner (Performance & Talent), the Employment Relations Advisor is an integral member of the People and Safety team, providing high level administrative support and HR advice to both internal and external stakeholders in matters relating to performance and talent.

Key Accountabilities

* Provide tier one general HR advice and support to schools and TCEO on industrial instruments, policies, procedures and other guidelines via phone, email, and the ServiceNow ticketing systems.
* Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the relevant People & Safety Business Partner or Senior People & Safety Business Partner (Performance & Talent) as required.
* Assist the Performance and Talent team by conducting case-related research and administrative tasks.
* Support the Performance and Talent team in the resolution of workplace grievances and disputes.
* Draft documents such as employment relations letters, policies and procedures for approval.
* Support the Performance and Talent team with investigations, performance management and disciplinary processes by taking notes or preparing complex documentation under guidance.
* Provide administrative support to the People and Safety Manager in the EBA negotiation process by taking meeting minutes and preparing related documentation.
* Collaborate with the broader people and safety team to understand and resolve cross functional queries.
* Manage the People & Safety intranet site, ensuring information and documentation is current, accurate, relevant, and easily accessible to employees.
* Shadow senior colleagues to build knowledge in managing more complex workplace matters.
* Undertake additional duties as directed by the Senior People & Safety Business Partner (Performance & Talent).
* Perform the role with the highest regard to confidentiality and discretion.
* Foster the TCE values and a sense of belonging within the organisation.

About you

* 2 years+ experience in a Human Resource role, with a broad base of HR generalist skills in a medium to large organisation
* A demonstrated understanding of industrial instruments, basic employment law, policies, and procedures.
* Familiarity with workplace grievance and dispute resolution processes.
* Knowledge of performance management, disciplinary procedures, and EBA (Enterprise Bargaining Agreement) negotiations.

Mandatory Criteria

* CurrentWorking with Children Suitability Cardor eligibility to obtain same *
* A minimum of a Diploma of Human Resources or equivalent relevant education or work experience.
* Current Driver's Licence.
* Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.
* Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.

* Experience in the education or not-for-profit sector.
