Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking a dedicated Team Leader to lead the strategic development and delivery of programs that support our diverse community. This is a pivotal role focused on fostering an inclusive environment for multicultural groups, First Nations people, and the broader community.
As a Team Leader, you will guide a committed team to implement Council strategies that celebrate and support diversity, ensuring that Council's services are accessible, equitable, and responsive to the needs of all residents.
The Team Leader will establish and strengthen community partnerships and deliver on key strategies and action plans across the functions of Access and Inclusion, Positive Ageing, First Nations Engagement and Reconciliation, Youth Development, Multicultural Engagement and Advisory Committees (Positive Ageing, Disability, Youth, LGBTQIA+).
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Management: Lead, motivate, and develop the Diversity team to achieve high performance and service excellence.
* Strategic Implementation: Drive the delivery of the Council Plan and specific diversity-related strategies.
* Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations, government departments, and residents.
* Lead, develop and maintain effective liaison and networks with community groups, government agencies and other relevant stakeholders in the context of identified needs, develop strategic partnerships and work in collaboration with key agencies and partners to deliver optimal outcomes for each of the portfolios.
* Financial Oversight: Manage program budgets and ensure services are delivered effectively within financial constraints.
We are looking for a collaborative leader who brings an excellent understanding and application of contemporary Community Development and Community Engagement principles, with demonstrated experience in community development and leading teams in a multi-functional organisation. Tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Project Management or a related field will be required, along with a proven ability to develop and motivate a team with diverse portfolios to a high standard ensuring objectives, strategies and action plans for each of the portfolio areas are delivered on time and on budget.
The role calls for extensive knowledge and understanding of project management methodology, well-developed analytical, conceptual, negotiation and problem‐solving skills, along with exceptional communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
