Family Partnership Worker (FPW)

- Be a key player in delivering culturally appropriate health services to Indigenous families in the Kimberley region.
- Foster community engagement and support through the Australian Family Partnership Program (AFPP).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance the wellbeing of Aboriginal families.
- Contribute to strategic planning and implementation of health programs aligned with KAMS' vision.

About Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services

Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services LTD(KAMS) is a well-established regional Aboriginal community controlled health service, founded in 1986, which provides centralised advocacy and resource support for 6 independent member services, as well as providing direct clinical services in a further 6 remote Aboriginal communities across the region.

KAMShas successfully delivered high-quality, accessible comprehensive primary health care services over its 22 years of operation and has provided innovation and national leadership in areas such as health information management and evidence based best practice in primary health care.

The Kimberley region is located in the northern part of Western Australia and covers about 421,000 square kilometres. The Kimberley has only three towns with a population of more than 2,000 (Broome, Derby and Kununurra), and the total population is around 37,000. In addition to the sealed Route 1 which runs along the southern part of the area, the unsealed Gibb River Road runs through the heart of the region from Derby to the highway near Kununurra. Access to much of the region is by dirt road, air or sea.

Position Overview

The Family Partnership Worker (FPW) is essential to the successful implementation of the Australian Family Partnership Program (AFPP). This role is responsible for maintaining high standards of community practise, ensuring the acceptance of the AFPP model, and adhering to the policies and guidelines set forth by the Primary Health Care Services.

Key Responsibilities

The Family Partnership Worker will be responsible for:

- Contributing to the strategic imperatives of KAMS by aligning with the organisation's strategic plan.
- Delivering program services in accordance with the AFPP model, ensuring a client-centred approach.
- Facilitating effective communication and collaboration with KAMS Member Services and external agencies.
- Participating in reflective practise and providing ongoing support to clients and families, ensuring cultural sensitivity and understanding.
- Engaging in quality improvement processes to enhance service delivery outcomes and maintaining compliance with health accreditation standards.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a combination of experience, skills, and personal attributes that align with the mission of KAMS and the responsibilities of the FPW role. Candidates should demonstrate:

- Experience in clinical practise or community health education programs.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
- A strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and the social determinants of health affecting Indigenous communities.
- Capability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and travel as necessary for professional development.

While you will facediverse new challengesin the role, you will also enjoyan attractive salary package including a base salary range of $86,780 plus super and a further host of benefits, including:

- District Allowance $3,569 (single), $7,138 (with dependant)
- Electricity allowance $1,440 p.a pro rata;
- Accommodation allowance $13,000 p.a. pro rata;
- Annual airfares subsidy to the value of $1,800 p.a. (after 12 months of service); and
- 5 weeks annual leavep.a.;

Please note that this role is only offered on a fixed term 12 months contract (leave cover).
