Job Overview
This is a leadership position in our manufacturing facility, overseeing the day shift and ensuring the achievement of business objectives in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
Main Responsibilities
* Lead by example and drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety and production.
* Assist in notifying safety incidents and hazards, ensuring timely reporting.
* Maintain compliance with WHS policies and procedures, ensuring product safety, hygiene, and quality standards.
* Schedule labor requirements and update shift rosters.
* Manage labor to ensure timely shift and machine changeovers, scheduled line start-ups, cleaning, and meal breaks.
* Monitor and manage daily production to meet plans, collaborating with production staff on performance issues.
* Conduct performance discussions with afternoon shift employees within required timeframes.
* Engage with employees regularly to identify and implement improvements in efficiency and setup times.
* Support new worker onboarding and monitor training plans, including weekly reviews and escalating issues to the Production Manager.
* Monitor employee performance and behaviors, addressing unsatisfactory performance in collaboration with the Production Manager.
* Coordinate maintenance activities with tradespeople to minimize downtime and raise service requests.
* Investigate packaging non-conformances, including customer complaints, and compile reports.
* Work proactively to minimize waste and support continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG. They should be able to make quick decisions confidently, be self-motivated with a results-driven approach, possess strong leadership qualities, and excellent prioritization skills. Outstanding communication skills and the ability to build relationships at all levels are essential.
