Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery, Practice Improvement
The Deputy Director of Nursing and Midwifery (DDONM) – Practice Improvement is a senior leadership role within the Office of the Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, responsible for advancing nursing and midwifery clinical practice and care quality across Monash Health.
The position supports the Director in delivering strategic nursing and midwifery leadership and operationalising Monash Health's organisational and professional strategic directions to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care.
This role provides expert leadership in clinical practice improvement and governance, guiding the design, implementation and sustainability of evidence-based models of care, clinical standards and strategic initiatives aligned with Monash Health's Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Directions.
The DDONM collaborates across key portfolios (Education, Prevention of Violence and Aggression (PoVA), Advanced Practice, Workforce and Professional Governance) to integrate practice, governance and capability-building strategies that deliver measurable improvements in safety, quality, experience and efficiency.
About You
Current registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
At least 5 years' experience in a similar professional role
Relevant Masters qualification (or working towards)
Extensive experience leading practice improvement programmes in a large health service, with measurable outcomes
A visionary leader, big-picture thinker who mentors, motivates and inspires others, able to demonstrate innovation and strategic agility, approaching challenges with creativity and foresight to deliver sustainable solutions
Advanced writing and communication skills, with experience preparing reports, submissions and business cases
Demonstrated ability to lead complex stakeholder engagement and codesign with consumers and interdisciplinary teams
Strong analytical capability in data interpretation, performance monitoring and risk management
Ability to travel across all Monash Health sites as required

We also provide care at Moorabbin Hospital, the Kingston Centre and the Cranbourne Integrated Community Care Centre.
We have over 40 locations across south-eastern Victoria, including several community health centres in Berwick, Cockatoo, Springvale, Dandenong and more.
