Entry-level journalist role in Canberra with Seven Network, focusing on gathering, editing, and presenting local news stories for Australia's leading broadcast media organisation.
Your Role
Key responsibilities include:
* Gathering, editing, and presenting compelling local news stories in a composed, accurate, and engaging manner.
* Reporting to the Canberra Editor and collaborating with the dynamic News Team in Canberra.
* Developing and maintaining positive relationships with key people and organisations.
* Breaking stories and creating engaging content.
* Representing the company in a professional and courteous manner.
* Demonstrating roster flexibility and a willingness to work extra hours when required by the news day.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
* A degree in journalism or a related subject (e.g. media & communications).
* Proven journalism/editorial skills.
* A solid understanding of media law and ethics.
* Competency in script writing in TV News format.
* Meticulous attention to detail.
* The ability to think clearly and act quickly under pressure.
* Excellent communication skills for collaboration with internal stakeholders and the local community.
* The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a focus on tight deadlines.
* A driven and energetic approach, suitable for a recent journalism or communications graduate.
