About TGS
TGS was founded in 1875 and is a member school of the GreatPublic Schools Association of Queensland (GPS). It is anindependent non-denominational day and boarding school for boyswith a total enrolment of 1,200 from Preparatory to Year 12.There are approximately 300 boarders in the School comingpredominantly from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Walesand the Northern Territory. About the Position
This position exists as a standalone First XI Cricket Coach rolefor candidates who do not possess the necessary Queensland Collegeof Teacher registration and is also available to be combined into aTeaching role for candidates who are registered with the QueenslandCollege of Teachers. As the First XI Cricket Coach, you will lead the team andoversee all aspects of the cricket program, from player developmentand training to strategic planning and competition preparation.Your mentorship and guidance will foster a positive, competitiveenvironment that promotes teamwork, sportsmanship, and personalgrowth.
TGS Teachers play a pivotal role in designing and deliveringinnovative teaching programs aligned with our learningphilosophies. Your expertise will contribute to cultivate anenvironment that empowers students to become confident, independentthinkers. You will collaborate with a supportive academic team andengage with various stakeholders, including parents and felloweducators.
Selection Criteria:
As First XI Cricket Coach, you will be able to demonstrate yourexperience and commitment to:
* Coaching Expertise: Demonstrate a currentcoaching accreditation and possess an in-depth passion forcricket.
* Program Management: Detail your experiencein program management, including coordinating personnelassociated with cricket teams. Discuss your ability to liaisewith relevant stakeholders to achieve program goals, manageequipment, and oversee training schedules. Provide examples ofhow you have contributed to the development and improvement ofa cricket program and your role in organising pre-seasonmatches and events.
* Player Development and Strategy: Illustrate your expertise in player development and strategicplanning within a cricket context. Describe how you havecreated and implemented coaching methodologies, goals, andplans for a cricket team. Outline your approach to talentidentification, promotion, and progression, and provideexamples of how you have improved individual players' skillsand performance.
* Event and Tour Management: Detail yourexperience in planning, preparing, and managing cricket toursand events. Discuss your involvement in organising matches,festivals, and other cricket-related activities. Highlightinstances where you have successfully managed logistics, travelarrangements, and match day coordination for cricketevents.
As Teacher you will be able todemonstrate your ability and commitment to:
* Teaching Expertise: Demonstratedproficiency in designing and delivering innovative teachingprograms aligned with Queensland and Australian curriculums. Adeep understanding of effective pedagogical practices and theability to tailor teaching methods to diverse learning stylesand student needs.
* Subject Matter Knowledge: Provenspecialist knowledge in the subject discipline, encompassing acomprehensive understanding of its concepts, theories, andpractical applications. Ability to convey complex ideas in anaccessible manner and to inspire students' curiosity andengagement.
* Student Engagement and Motivation: Trackrecord of motivating and enthusing students, particularly boys,in their learning journey. Ability to create a dynamic andinclusive classroom environment that fosters activeparticipation, critical thinking, and a passion forlearning.
* Use of Technology in Education: Proficiency in leveraging technology as an integral part of theteaching process to enhance student learning outcomes.Demonstrated ability to integrate digital tools and resourceseffectively to engage students and promote digitalliteracy.
* Curriculum Development and Adaptation: Experience in collaboratively developing and evaluatingcurriculum materials, adapting to educational trends, andintegrating innovative teaching methods. Ability to createlearning experiences that are relevant, challenging, andaligned with the school's educational philosophy.
* Mentoring and Pastoral Care: Experience orinterest in acting as a Mentor within the school's Housesystem, providing support and guidance to students in theirpastoral care groups. Ability to contribute to pastoral careprograms and promote a positive and inclusive schoolculture.
* Contributions to School Community: Demonstrated willingness and enthusiasm to actively participatein the school's co-curricular activities, House system, andpastoral care initiatives. Proven ability to contributepositively to the broader school community and itsprograms.
