**Position Information**:
Narara Valley High School is a comprehensive high school on the Central Coast of approximately 740 students including 87 Aboriginal students. Our Support Unit is an integral part of our school community and is comprised of 6 classes. The school caters for students of all ability levels and has developed a reputation for its strong focus on academic achievement, wellbeing and supporting community aspirations and needs.
The school runs specialist programs in Creative and Performing Arts and Targeted Sport, alongside a range of extra curricular activities. In addition to this, the school also has a Young Parents Program and an extensive wellbeing and learning and support team. The school has highly valued partnerships with the Cooinda AECG and other community organisations which further support the school's educational, wellbeing and transition programs. Our PBL values of Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best are embedded in all aspects of school life.

**Selection Criteria**:
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills to effectively lead a productive and collaborative team of diverse teachers, manage the implementation of changes in content and pedagogy; and promote professional learning and reflective practices across the Technology and Applied Studies faculty.
Demonstrated ability to budget, manage, organise resources and maintain high functioning practical environments with a focus upon 21st Century learning for all students.
Demonstrated skills in leading school strategic directions and working collaboratively as part of the school's executive team.
**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
