We're on the hunt for a Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer – Emerging Communications who is ready to dive into the fast-paced world of digital platforms and help shape the policies that govern them. If you're passionate about public policy, love a good stakeholder meeting, and can turn complex research into powerful advocacy—this is your moment.

What's the job?

You'll be the right hand to our newly created Policy and Advocacy Lead, working across teams to support strategic advocacy campaigns, craft compelling policy submissions, and build relationships with the people who make things happen—government, regulators, industry, and consumer groups.

What you'll be doing

* Support advocacy campaigns that drive real change for digital platform users.
* Track progress like a pro using project management tools.
* Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders—think government, regulators, and industry leaders.
* Represent us at forums and workshops (yes, you'll get to speak up).
* Research and write policy submissions, briefings, and reports that pack a punch.
* Stay sharp by monitoring trends and emerging issues in the digital space.
* Help shape strategy with clear, concise, and persuasive communications.

Who you'll work with

You'll collaborate with a passionate team of policy experts, media and communications professionals, and senior leaders—including the Ombudsman. You'll also engage with external stakeholders who are just as invested in the future of digital platforms as you are.

What you bring

Must-haves:

* A degree in Law, Public Policy, Political Science, or similar.
* Experience contributing to advocacy, campaigns, or government relations.
* Strong research and communication skills.
* A good grasp of legal concepts and political processes.
* A curious mind and creative approach to solving complex problems.
* A positive, professional, and respectful attitude.
* Knowledge of the digital platforms sector.
* Familiarity with external dispute resolution schemes.

This is a 12-month, maximum term appointment paid at Grade 3 of the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman Enterprise Agreement 2024.
