Your new role:
This identified First Nations role plays a vital part in supporting the social, emotional and cultural wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people impacted by disaster, through culturally safe, community-centred recovery approaches.
* Deliver culturally appropriate primary health care and psychosocial recovery support as part of a multidisciplinary disaster recovery team.
* Support post-disaster mental health recovery through practices that strengthen connection to Country, culture and community.
* Work alongside individuals, families and communities to improve access to services, continuity of care and community resilience.
* Contribute to education, health promotion, quality improvement and community capacity-building activities in disaster-impacted settings.
About you:
You are a committed Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health worker who brings strong cultural knowledge, a community-focused approach and a passion for supporting healing and resilience after disaster.
* You have demonstrated cultural knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities, customs and protocols.
* You bring experience or capability in delivering culturally safe primary health care and psychosocial support within a multidisciplinary or community setting.
* You communicate effectively with individuals, families, communities and partner organisations, with an understanding of health literacy and systems navigation.
* You are motivated to strengthen social and emotional wellbeing, community resilience and recovery for First Nations people following disaster.
