Find out more about us and our purpose.

Your Opportunity

The Aherlkeme Development Centre (ADC) in Alice Springs provides vital transitional accommodation and wraparound support services for Territorians who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Our service is designed to assist individuals and families who face significant challenges in securing and maintaining tenancies.

ADC delivers culturally safe, person-centred support through tailored case management and life skills development programs, enabling residents to build the capacity and confidence needed to successfully transition into stable public or private housing.

This is an on-site position and as a Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting participants' daily needs, maintaining a safe and clean-living environment, and contributing to the overall positive outcomes of each resident's housing journey.

We strongly encourage applications from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island people.

This is a 24-hour service and requires flexibility to work a rotating roster including evenings, overnight, and weekends.

Your Key Responsibilities

* Deliver participant support across day, afternoon, and overnight shifts, including monitoring, assistance with daily tasks, and transport as required.
* Undertake basic client intake and induction, including completing relevant forms and guiding new residents through service expectations and procedures.
* Support implementation of person-centred case plans in collaboration with case managers, ensuring cultural responsiveness and individual needs are addressed.
* Carry out general administrative tasks, maintain accurate and timely case notes, and complete internal/external documentation in line with service standards.
* Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment through basic cleaning duties and routine property upkeep.
* Contribute to life skills development, assisting or facilitating basic group sessions that build independence and tenancy readiness.
* Collaborate with the team and engage stakeholders, attending team meetings, training, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements for Success

* A relevant Certificate III or IV in Community Services, or equivalent experience in the homelessness, mental health or related sector.
* Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable populations, preferably within Aboriginal communities, with cultural sensitivity and respect.
* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
* Sound administrative and record-keeping skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office and client databases.
* A team-oriented approach with flexibility to work a 24/7 roster, including overnight and weekend shifts.
* Physical capacity to undertake manual handling tasks, including lifting and carrying items up to 15kg and occasional use of step ladders for basic storage duties.
* First Aid & CPR certificate is required.
* Full driver licence with no restrictions.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.

Your Benefits

To ensure our employees feel valued, empowered, and celebrated, we provide a range of employee benefits including:

* Rewarding work – every day you know you're making a real difference
* Not-for-profit salary packaging, reducing your tax (details via AccessPay)
* Free external, confidential counselling and access to chaplaincy support.
* Volunteering opportunities
* Extra leave available including an additional public holiday, additional annual leave day on your work anniversary and the opportunity to purchase further annual leave.
* Remote location allowance includes:
* Additional $350 each year to help with cost of living in a remote area
* Access to up to 3 additional days Personal/carers leave each year
