Office Manager / Bookkeeper

We are a well-established Queensland plumbing company seeking an experienced all-round Office Manager / Bookkeeper to take ownership of our accounts and office operations.
This is a hands-on role suited to a highly organised professional who understands trade-based businesses and Queensland compliance requirements.
About the Role
You will manage the full function of bookkeeping, payroll, and office administration, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with Queensland and federal regulations.
You’ll work closely with the Director and play a key role in keeping the business running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts & Bookkeeping
* End-to-end Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
* Supplier statement reconciliations
* Debtor management and collections
* Bank, credit card & general ledger reconciliations
* Month-end reporting and forecasting
* Assisting with BAS/IAS preparation
* Liaising with our external accountant
Payroll (QLD Compliance Focus)
* End-to-end weekly payroll processing (STP compliant)
* Award interpretation (plumbing & construction awards)
* Superannuation processing (EOM Super)
* PAYG withholding & payroll tax compliance
* Ensuring compliance with the Australian Taxation Office
* Managing QLD payroll tax obligations with Queensland Revenue Office
Industry & Regulatory Compliance (QLD)
* Maintaining contractor and employee records
* Supporting compliance requirements with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission
* Ensuring accurate documentation for audits and licensing
* Maintaining insurances and compliance registers
General Office Management
* Supporting the Director with administration
* Managing internal systems and processes
* Liaising with clients and suppliers
* Assisting with ad hoc accounting and operational tasks
About You
Essential:
* Minimum 3–5 years bookkeeping experience
* Certificate IV in Bookkeeping (or equivalent) – essential
* Demonstrated proficiency in Xero – essential
* Strong Xero experience
* Advanced Excel skills
* Proven end-to-end payroll experience (including STP)
* Experience with superannuation, PAYG & payroll tax
* Full Australian working rights
Highly Regarded:
* Experience in plumbing, construction, or trade industry
* Understanding of QLD payroll tax requirements
* Strong knowledge of Industry award-based payroll
