About The Role The Communications Advisor plays a key role within the Operations Technology and Reform (OTR) Program, delivering clear, consistent and timely communications to support complex operational and reform initiatives. Partnering with change managers, project leads and subject matter experts, this role translates technical updates into engaging, audience‑appropriate content that builds awareness, transparency and confidence across AEMO.
Reporting to the Manager of Knowledge Strategy and Engagement, the Communications Advisor develops and delivers content across multiple internal channels, including news articles, Viva Engage posts, team communications, project webpages and presentations. The role is responsible for end‑to‑end delivery—from drafting through to publication, rollout and evaluation—ensuring messaging is accurate, coordinated and aligned to program narratives, while promoting outcomes and recognising the contributions of teams involved.
What You Will Be Doing
Lead the development and delivery of Operations Technology and Reform (OTR) project‑level communications, partnering with the Knowledge Strategy and Engagement Manager, change managers, project managers and broader program teams to produce high‑quality, engaging content across AEMO’s internal channels.
Collaborate with communications teams across AEMO, including Corporate Communications, to support and facilitate organisation‑wide publication of project communications.
Provide communications support and expert advice to the broader Industry and Business Enablement team, ensuring alignment and consistency of messaging.
Support the Knowledge Strategy and Engagement Manager in delivering Operations Technology and Reform (OTR) Program and selected divisional engagement activities, contributing to effective stakeholder engagement and program success.
What You Will Bring To The Role
A university degree in communications, journalism, arts or a related discipline is preferred.
Demonstrated experience in communications within the public or private sector; experience in a large, complex organisation will be highly regarded.
Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences, channels and purposes.
Strong understanding of multimedia approaches and contemporary communication tools and technologies.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint; experience with MS365 tools, Canva and Copilot is highly desirable.
Experience in the energy sector or within a technical, operational environment is highly valued.
