We're looking for dedicated and skilled 2nd Class Welders to join our growing team in Brooklyn. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive individual with solid foundational welding skills and a great attitude to contribute to significant industrial projects. You'll be an integral part of our fabrication workshop, performing a mix of welding and metal worker duties, working on diverse materials, and operating various machinery.
Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PMPay Rate: $44.00 p/h + Super + Required OT****Temp to Perm Opportunity
Key Responsibilities:****
* Performing neat and accurate MIG welding on a range of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
* Reading and interpreting basic engineering drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
* Preparing materials for welding, which may involve cutting, grinding, bevelling, and cleaning metal surfaces.
* Assembling and fitting components prior to and during welding, ensuring alignment and dimensional accuracy.
* Operating workshop machinery such as the guillotine and brake press, along with other hand tools safely and effectively.
* Undertaking Trade Assistant duties when not welding, which may include material handling, workshop tidiness, assisting tradespeople, and general labouring tasks.
* Conducting self-inspection of welds to ensure quality, penetration, and adherence to relevant specifications.
* Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment, adhering strictly to all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
*Skills and Experience Required:*
* Proven practical experience as a 2nd Class Welder, preferably within a heavy fabrication, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
* Demonstrated proficiency in MIG welding, with the ability to produce consistently neat and high-quality welds.
* Experience or capability to operate workshop machinery such as a guillotine and brake press.
* Ability to accurately read and interpret basic engineering drawings and follow instructions.
* A strong understanding of, and unwavering commitment to, workplace health and safety.
* The right attitude We are looking for someone reliable, punctual, eager to learn, and who works well as part of a team.
* Ability to effectively balance welding tasks with general Trade Assistant duties.
* We are open to candidates who have not yet completed their Cert III in Engineering (Fabrication Trade) but are a good fit and possess relevant skills.
