We deliver a range of programs, projects and initiatives to enhance greening in the city.As part of this placement, we’re seeking a student to work with us on the project below.Project Title: Comparative analysis of global Urban Forest StrategiesCity of Melbourne’s Urban Forest Strategy 2012-2032 has a vision to create a resilient, healthy and diverse forest for the future. Since its endorsement, cities around the world have adopted their own innovative urban forest and related strategies. As we continue to implement our Urban Forest Strategy, we are now looking to the future.We’re looking for a student to conduct a comparative analysis of global and local urban forest and related strategies. You’ll be working alongside subject matter experts in the Urban Forest and Ecology team. As part of this placement, you’ll be guided through a structured meta-analysis approach which will help us learn from others and think about the renewal of our own Urban Forest Strategy.The Urban Forest and Ecology team is a multi-disciplinary team with expertise in arboriculture, urban forestry, urban ecology, social science and community engagement. You’ll have the opportunity to engage with and learn from every member of the team, along with the opportunity to learn about Council processes and workplace norms.Placement DetailsTo be eligible to apply for this student placement opportunity, you must be a tertiary student currently enrolled in an accredited course that has a student placement requirement.This placement is office-based and will be hosted at Council House 2, 240 Little Collins Street Melbourne 3000.Placement duration is flexible on the student’s course requirements.We will work with the successful applicant on preferred days and hours in the office.City of Melbourne offers a daily stipend.How To ApplyTo apply you’ll be required to submit:Your resumeA cover letter which addresses the following questions (no more than 1 page):What motivated you to want to do a student placement at the City of Melbourne?Why does this project interest you?Feel free to share any other particular areas of interest or expertise that may be relevant to urban forestry.
