DTMI Maritime is the lead agency for a multimillion-dollar program of transformational waterfront and infrastructure projects along the Western Australian coastline for the benefit of the WA community. We are delivering an unprecedented level of investment in our recreational and commercial boating infrastructure, including marine and land side development opportunities, to enhance customer amenities and the visitor experience.

The Coastal Information Branch at DTMI provides the data and insights that support the Maritime functions. Combining geospatial, scientific and technical expertise, the team delivers high‐quality coastal and marine information, maps and analysis that inform decisions, protect environments and enable marine activity statewide.

Whether you're a seasoned expert in spatial technology or a geospatial graduate, a computer or data scientist looking to apply your skills in a new way, this is your invitation to add your name to the Geospatial Officers Pool.

What You'll Be Doing

Depending on your skills and strengths, opportunities include:

Geographic Information Systems and IT Architecture
* Develop applications and maintain infrastructure and systems
* Administer databases and enterprise GIS platforms
Geospatial Analyst
* Support and develop GIS applications and services
* Work with complex datasets to support decision-making
Geospatial Cartographer
* Combine design thinking with technical precision to produce charts and maps
* Oversee spatial data capture and automate chart workflows using innovative technology

You'll collaborate with scientists, engineers, planners, surveyors and developers—no two days are the same.

Tech You'll Get Your Hands On

We work with a modern, diverse technology stack, including:

* Esri ArcGIS Enterprise server, web services, spatial & network analysis, 3D analyst
* Python and automation, Microsoft Power Automate, AI, FME workflows
* QPS (Qimera, Quinsy), ER Mapper, Bathymetry data
* 3D modelling, LiDAR drone capture and data processing
* Large spatial datasets and enterprise data environments, real time data and coastal datasets
* AWS and Azure Cloud infrastructure

There are currently 3 fixed term positions available, with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 24 months from date of first appointment across the Department.
