Municipal Maintenance Officer
About the Role:
We are looking for a Municipal Maintenance Employee to help maintain a safe, clean, and tidy public environment. You will carry out general maintenance and cleaning tasks, operate vehicles and equipment, and support the team in keeping public areas well-maintained. This role involves outdoor work, teamwork, and following safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collect and remove leaves, litter, debris, and other waste manually or using vehicles and equipment.
* Drive and operate Utes or medium rigid trucks, including performing pre-start checks.
* Perform general litter collection and removal of hazardous items such as syringes and glass.
* Remove graffiti and clean surfaces using appropriate products.
* Operate mechanical bin lifters to empty public litter bins.
* Follow health and safety procedures and apply safe work practices daily.
* Maintain vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
* Undertake other duties as required consistent with skills and role level.
Key Requirements:
* Victorian Driver's License, preferably with Medium Rigid truck endorsement.
* Experience using hand tools and mechanical equipment for cleaning and maintenance.
* Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, public maintenance standards and safe working practices.
* Ability to perform physical outdoor work consistently, including lifting, bending, and operating equipment.
* Experience working in outdoor or public-facing environments.
* Commitment to workplace health and safety, including reporting hazards and supporting return-to-work plans.
* Relevant certifications or tickets for equipment operation are an advantage.
