As a nurse in our practice-based setting, you'll work alongside surgeons, PAs, and clinical teams to deliver patient-centred post-operative care and ensure a smooth recovery journey for each individual.
About the Role
We are seeking a professional, compassionate and detail-oriented Practice Nurse to support our surgeons and their patients in a clinical orthopaedic setting.
This is a full-time position with no weekend or after hours work, providing excellent work-life balance in a highly respected medical practice. You'll play a hands-on role in wound care, patient education, minor procedures, and equipment fitting, all while contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor and support patients during post-operative recovery
* Perform wound care, change dressings, and report complications
* Fit and remove orthopaedic equipment (casts, moon boots)
* Provide clear patient education on care, medication, and recovery timelines
* Liaise with surgeons and PAs to coordinate appointments and ensure timely follow-up
* Assist in administering Monovisc and corticosteroid injections
* Manage clinical supplies and participate in continuous improvement activities
* Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to a safe, compliant workplace
What You'll Need
* AHPRA registration
* Current CPR/First Aid certification
* Experience in wound care and post-op support
* Strong communication, time management, and decision-making skills
* A caring and empathetic approach to patient care
* Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Desirable (but not essential):
* Postgrad certificate in Orthopaedic, Surgical or Trauma Nursing
* Experience administering injections or managing orthopaedic equipment
