Salary: $75,000 – $80,000 per year + Super | Full-Time
An award-winning local café/restaurant, located in the heart of Berwick, is seeking a highly skilled and passionateHead Chef to lead our kitchen team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to take ownership of the kitchen operations and drive culinary excellence in a fast-paced, modern café environment.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate must:
 * Hold a Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
 * Have minimum 7–10 years of experience in a fast-paced kitchen, with at least 2–3 years in a senior/leadership role.
 * Demonstrate strong expertise in modern café and restaurant-style cuisine with creativity in menu design.
 * Possess solid knowledge of fusion food trends and contemporary cooking techniques.
 * Be confident in managing kitchen and stock operations including supplier relationships.
 * Have strong leadership and training skills, capable of mentoring junior staff.
 * Be available to work both weekend days (Wednesday – Sunday roster).
Core Responsibilities
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for:
 * Leading the day-to-day management of the kitchen and ensuring smooth service.
 * Designing and developing seasonal menus that reflect modern trends and customer preferences.
 * Overseeing food preparation, cooking, and plating standards to consistently high quality.
 * Managing ordering, inventory control, and supplier negotiations to ensure cost efficiency.
 * Ensuring compliance with local council and industry standards, including food safety, hygiene, and record keeping.
 * Training, motivating, and supervising kitchen staff, including rostering and performance management.
 * Driving kitchen efficiency and profitability by improving workflow and cost control.
 * Maintaining food rotation and quality control to reduce wastage.
 * Running the kitchen independently, reporting directly to the owner.
 * Contributing to the overall growth of the business by bringing creativity and innovation.

 * A competitive salary package : $75,000 – $80,000 per year + super.
 * A full-time role with a balanced roster: Wednesday to Sunday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM (approx. 38–40 hours weekly) .
