The Minister for Planning is seeking expressions of interest for the position of alternate Heritage Council member with recognised skills or expertise in archaeology. The Heritage Council of Victoria is an independent statutory authority made up of ten members and ten alternate members and established under the Heritage Act 2017. The Heritage Council is responsible for the identification and protection of places and objects of cultural heritage significance to the state of Victoria. Applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of high-level skills, experience and knowledge in relation to the following criteria: In accordance with the Act, the person appointed to the Heritage Council must be a person with recognised skills or expertise in the area of archaeology. In addition to the mandatory skills or expertise outlined above, skills, knowledge or experience in the following areas will be considered highly desirable: recognition, protection and management of cultural heritage judicial or quasi-judicial proceedings public sector financial or asset management or public sector governance corporate and business planning.
