Our state government partner is seeking a PO4 Senior Environmental Officer to support the Coomera Connector Stage 2 (Pimpama to Coomera) program within a major transport infrastructure project. This is a key advisory role providing specialist environmental input across planning, approvals, compliance and delivery of a critical future corridors project. 2‐year contract.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‐level environmental and statutory advice to support delivery of major transport infrastructure projects
* Lead input into environmental approvals, including State processes and Commonwealth EPBC Act requirements
* Support preparation and review of key project documentation including PERs, EMPs, design packages and environmental reports
* Identify environmental risks and provide practical advice to inform design development and project delivery
* Coordinate environmental offsets and land acquisition activities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
* Engage with government agencies, contractors and project teams to ensure compliance and effective environmental management
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver specialist advice on environmental legislation, approvals and compliance obligations across all project phases
* Support and coordinate Commonwealth and State environmental approval processes and associated offsets
* Review project designs, environmental surveys, spatial data and technical environmental documentation
* Provide input into audits, briefs, contract specifications and environmental management planning
* Identify issues and negotiate design or delivery modifications to mitigate environmental impacts
* Act as a key advisor to project teams on environmental risks, sustainability and regulatory requirements
* Represent the project in stakeholder meetings, working groups and governance forums
* Provide high‐level advice for ministerial correspondence, briefs and executive reporting as required
Mandatory
* Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management or Natural Resource Management (or equivalent)
* Current 'C' class driver's licence
* Successful criminal history screening
Highly regarded
* Experience working within major transport infrastructure or linear infrastructure projects
* Strong working knowledge of Queensland and Commonwealth environmental approval frameworks
* Experience with EPBC Act referrals, environmental offsets and impact assessment processes

* Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and approval frameworks, including the EPBC Act
* Demonstrated experience supporting infrastructure projects through environmental assessment and compliance processes
* Confident communicator with the ability to provide clear, practical advice to technical and non‐technical stakeholders
* Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a project environment
