You will join a large Federal Government department focused on shaping policy outcomes with real impact across regional Australia. Your new section drives cross‐government policy design, supporting Cabinet and Regional Australia Impact Statement processes for initiatives with regional impacts.
Your new role
As an APS5 Policy Officer, you will support whole‐of‐government policy design and decision‐making. Your duties will include but are not limited to:
* Developing clear, evidence‐based policy advice and briefing material.
* Contributing to Cabinet and Regional Australia Impact Statement processes.
* Preparing briefs, issues papers, and submissions for senior executives and Ministers.
* Analysing research, data, and local insights to inform policy positions.
* Providing secretariat support for senior forums and meetings.
* Building strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in your new role, you will have previous experience in a similar role and working in the Federal Government. You will also have:
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Sound judgement and the ability to interpret complex information.
* Confidence working across teams and engaging diverse stakeholders.
* The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‐paced setting.
* A collaborative mindset and a constructive approach to change.
To be considered for this role, you will need to be an Australian citizen and have a Government Security Clearance at the Baseline level or higher.
