About the Opportunity
AMSANT is seeking a full-time
Human Resources Manager
to drive the HR function during an exciting period of growth and transformation in Darwin, NT.
Reporting to the Deputy CEO, this role will lead the design and implementation of AMSANT's people strategy – aligning operational HR with long-term cultural and organisational goals.
This isn't a compliance-only role – it's a chance to create a
people-first culture
that empowers staff, strengthens leadership capability and supports sustainable workforce outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the development and implementation of HR policies, systems, and compliance processes
Advising and coaching managers on employee relations, performance, and risk management
Coordinating recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, and succession planning
Ensuring compliance with Fair Work, WHS, IR, and insurance obligations
Managing complex HR and industrial relations matters with fairness and diplomacy
Providing training, mentoring, and support to managers and staff across departments
This is a critical role and a chance to
shape AMSANT's people and culture strategy while mentoring upcoming HR talent

About You
You're an experienced People-first leader who thrives in environments where purpose and complexity meet. You bring strategic clarity, cultural intelligence and a practical understanding of the challenges that come with supporting a geographically dispersed workforce.
You will bring:
Tertiary qualifications
in HR, business or a related discipline
At least 4 years of generalist HR experience, including experience managing complex people issues and advising leaders
Demonstrated experience leading or supporting HR across
remote or regional workplaces
, ideally within the community-controlled, health or not-for-profit sectors
Strong interpersonal and communication skills – you know how to build trust across teams, even at a distance
Experience in workforce planning, HRIS, data-informed decision making and organisational development
A coaching approach – you empower leaders rather than doing the work for them
Highly regarded experience includes:
Work within Aboriginal community-controlled or not-for-profit settings
Strong knowledge of the
Fair Work Act
,
WHS
and enterprise agreements
Experience managing compensation and risk-related HR matters
You're proactive, adaptable, and culturally attuned – comfortable working remotely while maintaining close collaboration with AMSANT's Darwin-based leadership team and regional members
Current
Ochre Card and National Police Check
